Hello everybody welcome back to another episode of Oh Shoot! I’m your host Cassidy Lynee and welcome back. Happy Monday guys we have such a fun episode today! This episode is going to be so fun because you guys know me I love trends, I love fashion, I love makeup trends, and I love social media trends!

I think it’s all so fun, so yeah I’m really excited to dive into this episode and I got all of these answers from you guys! So, yeah we’ve got lots of great things to talk about you’re really going to have to stand on business today, stand on your opinion because there are lots of opinions in this episode and you’re going to have to find out what is your opinion. What do you believe in because, my opinion varies from some of your guys’ opinions and that’s okay that’s just what life is! Let’s get into the episode!

2025 Photography Trends

I decided to play trend fortune teller and make some bold predictions about what we’ll be seeing more of this year. Some of these are total guesses, but I have a feeling they’ll come true.

1. White in Wedding Parties

I think white will be a huge trend for wedding parties this year, especially for bridesmaids’ dresses. Now, I know this might sound wild because obviously, the bride wears white. But I think people will get creative with it. Maybe the bride’s dress will stand out in a unique way, or the bridesmaids will wear different fabrics or styles.

2. Cascading Bouquets -Without Greenery

We’ve seen a shift away from greenery in bouquets, and I think that’s going to continue. Instead of trailing vines and leaves, I predict we’ll see cascading floral arrangements in one solid color like all white, all red, or all pink.

3. Long Lenses Are Making a Comeback

For the past few years, wide-angle, editorial-style shots have dominated. But I have a feeling long lenses (like 70-200mm) will make a return because they create such a beautiful, intimate, and candid feel!

4. The Grain Dilemma

I went back and forth on this one—will grain be in or out? Here’s what I think:

For true-to-color, documentary-style edits → Grain is OUT.

For film and cinematic styles → More grain is IN.

5. True-to-Color Edits -With a Twist

True-to-color editing is here to stay, but I think there’s going to be a signature “twist” to make images stand out. Maybe blues will have a more purple or teal tone, or there will be a subtle color shift in the shadows.

6. Big Travel Locations Won’t Matter as Much

I think we’re moving away from “bucket list” travel spots like the Eiffel Tower or Banff National Park. Instead, clients will care more about the overall vibe and decor of their event. A beautifully styled wedding in a unique, lesser-known location will feel just as special—if not more!

2025 Photography Trends I’m Loving

1. Cinematic Vibes & Film-Style Edits

I’ve been obsessed with cinematic photography, and I’m fully leaning into it this year. I’m even working on a cinematic preset to perfect the look!

2. “Trash” Photos

You know those photos that feel like throwaways slightly misfocused, imperfect compositions, maybe even a little chaotic? Yeah, I love them now. These “trash” photos actually help tell a deeper story in galleries and create a raw, authentic feel.

3. Wedding Parties Sitting Instead of Standing

I love how more wedding parties are sitting during ceremonies instead of standing in a row. It creates a cleaner visual look and keeps the focus on the couple.

4. Motion Blur & Blurry Photos

I know this one is controversial, but I love the way intentional motion blur adds energy and emotion to photos, especially on wedding dance floors!

5. Reception Lay Flat Photos

Lately, I’ve been using downtime at receptions to capture flat lay shots of table settings, menus, drinks, and little details. It adds such a unique touch to the final gallery.

6. The Three Horizontal Photo Layout for IG

I LOVE seeing three horizontal images posted together on Instagram. It tells a mini-story and gives such a well-rounded view of a moment.

7. Vintage Cameras & Digital Cameras

Film and vintage cameras are here to stay, and I’m 100% on board. Even though some people aren’t loving digital cameras, I personally think they add a playful, nostalgic aesthetic.

8. Off-Camera Flash & Direct Lighting

I’ve been leaning into off-camera flash and direct lighting more, and I love the bold, high-contrast look it creates.

9. Crooked Horizons & Documentary-Style Shooting

I know some people hate slightly tilted horizons, but I think they add movement and spontaneity to images. They fit perfectly into the documentary-style photography trend.

2025 Photography Trends I’m Over

This are something you guys have said about trend you guys are over in 2025.

1. Trashing Photographers & Vendors on Social Media

This has got to stop. I hate seeing people call out their photographers or vendors publicly instead of handling issues privately.

2. Offering Free Travel Weddings for Exposure

The whole “I’ll shoot your wedding for free if it’s in Italy” trend? I’m over it. It devalues the industry and sets unrealistic expectations for new photographers.

3. Paying for Features in Magazines

If a magazine requires payment to feature you, it’s not really about talent, it’s about money. And that just feels off to me.

4. The Overuse of AI in Photography

Personally don’t hate it. I don’t think it ruining photography if anything I think it’s enhancing it! I am able to edit a ton of photos in like 2 seconds! So yeah I don’t hate AI.

5. Super Bright, Whitewashed Edits

Edits that are way too bright and washed out just don’t feel natural anymore.

6. Editing Trends That Feel Overdone

“Green foggy” edits

Extreme yellow skin tones

Super high contrast + flash combos (I still like it, but I get why people think it’s overdone!)

7. Wedding Trends That Need to Go

Some of you guys said, produce in centerpieces (lemons, grapes, etc.) → they said “If I wanted that, I’d just get married in a grocery store.” lol

Placing wedding rings inside cakes → WHY? The risk of losing them is too high!

Dark red wedding themes → I feel like this trend is about to be way overdone.

8. Only Shooting Vertical

I get why people do it (especially for social media), but not every image needs to be vertical. Let’s bring some variety back.
