Oh Shoot! Podcast The VIRAL New Way to Use Flash with Aisle Glam (Tatiana Hüber)

Podcast

Welcome back to another episode of Oh Shoot podcast! I’m Cassidy Lynn, and this one is a good one. I’ve been waiting forever to chat with today’s guest: Tatiana Hüber of Aisle Glam. You may know her from her signature glam wedding photography style or that viral off-camera flash technique everyone’s been talking about. She’s based in Munich, Germany, and has built an incredible brand rooted in editorial beauty, expert-level lighting, and magazine-worthy moments. We talked about everything, from how she went from high school camera girl to international wedding photographer, to her favorite posing and retouching strategies, and of course, her genius one-flash handheld setup. This is one of those episodes where you’ll want to take notes and maybe rethink your entire approach to flash photography!

New Way to Use Flash with Aisle Glam

Cassidy: Tell Us Who You Are!

Tatiana: Hi! I’m Tatiana Hüber and I run Aisle Glam. I’m a wedding photographer based in Munich, and I’ve been in the beauty industry for a while now. I started out as a makeup artist when I was 17 and worked in that field for eight or nine years. That experience slowly evolved into beauty photography, and then eventually weddings. I just loved weddings so much, especially the storytelling aspect so I made the switch!

Cassidy: Did You Ever Do Both, Makeup and Photo?

Tatiana: At one point, yes. But never again! That’s truly the hardest job, doing makeup and photography at the same event? Nope. Too much equipment. Too much stress. I tried it and knew instantly it wasn’t sustainable!

Cassidy: What Helped You Go Full-Time?

Tatiana: Social media. A thousand percent. But I had to change my mindset early on. Instead of posting all the time, I focused on posting only when the content was good. I chose quality over quantity. Some of my 10-second Reels take me five days to make. But I’d rather make something wow than churn things out.

Cassidy: What Gear Are You Using Right Now?

Tatiana: I use two Canon R6 cameras (one Mark II), and my go-to lens is the 28–70mm f/2.0. I’m obsessed with it. If I didn’t have anxiety about backups and gear failing, I’d probably shoot with only that lens forever. For flash, I use Profoto mostly the A10 in-hand, not mounted. I also keep an A2 and B10 around, but I rarely go multi-light. It’s usually just me, one flash, and the transmitter.

New Way to Use Flash with Aisle Glam

Cassidy: THE Viral Flash Setup, Tell Us Everything

Tatiana: It started because I just didn’t like the shadows I got with on-camera flash. I wanted more control over the light and didn’t like how bulky vertical flash mounts felt. So I just started holding the flash in my hand off-camera, handheld and pointing it exactly where I wanted. It gives the subject more even lighting and eliminates weird shadows. It’s heavy, yes. My arm is basically doing weight training all day, but it works!

Cassidy: How’d You Build That Distinct Style?

Tatiana: My style is a mix of everything I’ve loved visually since I was young teen magazines, early 2000s perfume ads, beauty photography, precise retouching. Beauty photography trained me to pay attention to every detail, and Photoshop became my second language. I retouch 60% of the gallery in Photoshop. Not to make people look fake, but to clean things up subtly so they feel like the best version of themselves!

Cassidy: Wait—You Retouch EVERYTHING?

Tatiana: Yes. It’s like therapy to me. Some people go on walks, I retouch. I’m zoomed in on under-eyes, posture, flyaway hairs anything that takes the photo from great to perfect. And I want my clients to feel amazing when they see their gallery.

Cassidy: Your Posing Feels SO Natural, How Do You Do It?

Tatiana: I use a movement > steady > movement flow. We start with a walk to loosen up, then some classic portraits, then something spontaneous to get the real energy. I also do multiple short sessions on the wedding day 10–15 minutes each instead of one big portrait block. It’s faster, more natural, and less exhausting for everyone!

Cassidy: Any Favorite Poses Right Now?

Tatiana: I love when the bride props her elbow on the groom’s shoulder with a long neck posture, it feels elegant and editorial. But it’s tough with off-shoulder dresses or height differences. I’m obsessed with hands, though. I think hands are everything in a photo. They add so much grace and emotion.

Getting Into The Details On The New Way To Use Flash

Cassidy: Any Shooting or Composition Tips?

Tatiana: Don’t overthink composition while you’re shooting, especially during moments with movement or emotion. I center things a lot and crop later. But I love “organized chaos” like people dancing with hands flying, the couple in the middle, energy everywhere. That’s what makes photos feel alive.

Cassidy: Let’s Talk Magazine Features

Tatiana: I’ve had a few weddings go viral and get picked up by big accounts like The Knot. I’ve also had weddings featured in Vogue, but those came from the couple finding me on social media. I don’t apply for features, they’ve just happened organically so far. It’s not even about the quality of the photo, it’s about the moment, the people, or the virality.

Cassidy: What’s a Big Lesson You’ve Learned?

Tatiana: Not everything depends on you. Sometimes things don’t go right and that’s okay. I’ve learned to delegate more and trust the people I work with. You’ll grow into bigger roles where you’re managing a team, not just clicking the shutter. Trust the people around you, and don’t carry everything alone!

Final Thoughts

This conversation with Tatiana blew me away. Her approach to photography is intentional, stylish, and smart like, I’m rethinking my whole flash setup now.
