Honeybook Price Increase
I’m sure a lot of you guys have heard that Honeybook is raising their prices, not just a little bit, they are raising them a LOT! The price increase is about 40% soo that’s crazy, it is a lot! I little don’t know anyone that jumps that high as far as subscriptions go. Just to give you guys an idea on pricing.
Right now:
For premium: $79/mo annual
$66/month billed annual (total $792/year)
Now, starting February 4:
$129/month annual
$109/mo billed annually $1300
Honeybook is essentially forcing people out of their legacy plans & onto the new pricing. Honeybook has been responding to comments claiming that the price is the bring new features. Some argue that new features are irrelevant. Now, honeybook still has technology issues (spam issues, clients can be easily confused) I have heard great thing about Dubsado, which is one of the alternatives. I’ll keep you guys updated it if I switch to dubsado.
Sepia gate / sepia bride divorce
According to the synopsis on google:
Sepia Gate was a heated social media debate between a bride and her wedding photographer over the editing style of her wedding photos. The bride, who goes by @alexandrajaye5 on TikTok, was unhappy with the yellow tones in her photos and posted videos criticizing the photographer. The debate became a photography industry scandal and went viral on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The debate sparked discussion about how to balance artistic vision with client satisfaction. Some say that the photographer did what was expected of them, and that the bride should have hired someone whose work and personality she loved. Others say that the photographer could have re-edited the photos to tone down the sepia without losing her style!
It’s important to know that at this point in time it has come out that Sepia bride is now divorced, and she got married I want to say like 1 -2 years ago, so she is now divorced. Sepia bride went on a TikTok rampage posting a LOT of videos about the issue! Even putting sepia bride on her TikTok bio. I am speaking on all of this allegedly. You know I don’t want to get in trouble for saying this lol, but all of this kinda felt like a clout chase from sepia bride and you know it was just a very unfortunate situation. I really hope that the photographer didn’t suffer at all, I hope the photographer’s business didn’t suffer because it looks like the clients was just looking dfor any reason to complain!
Ai generative added to Lightroom
BIG BIG news y’all, and we all benefited from this. Generative AI was added to lightroom, the generative remove feature was added to lightroom on in May 2024. This feature uses Adobe Firefly generative AI to remove unwanted objects and distractions on photos. So, this was probably one of the biggest things for me in 2024. This really took out my need to bring photos into photoshop, like I can say that about 95% of the photoshoping that I needed to do, I can now do it on lightroom which is so so nice!
Millie Bobby Browns wedding photos
I made a video about this because they were that ICONIC that I had to share! I feel like this specific event showed the artistic choice of using direct light, I feel like it gave a lot of photographers a little bit of inspiration and encouragement to show them that working with direct light is a great thing. Their wedding photos also showcased new styles of editing and also confirmed a lot of 2024 – 2025 trends like, the Italian villa style wedding, less on an emphasis on those big and dramatic wedding bouquets, props, and minimal editing!
Tripp Photo
Tripp photo getting death threats because people think she charges too much Wedding photographer is sent DEATH THREATS after revealing she charges couples a MINIMUM of $8,500 – sparking outcry from social media users slamming her ‘blurry’ images
This one is reallyyy crazy, this person called Tripp photo, and this is all allegedly btw! Tripp said someone with a $2k budget reached out to her, in response, she said she charges $8.5k. Tripp posted a video saying ‘when’s someone inquires for wedding photos with a $2k budget & I send back my prices starting $8.5k” with the audio ‘you think I’m psycho”
So, basically people on Tripp’s comments were really criticizing her work specifically for her photos being blurry. Haussdrama clapped back at Tripp, criticizing her work as well. It’s a really unfortunate situation because like I don’t think I would post something like that, I have a package that’s 8,500 dollars but I am not going to diminish someone else’s budget and make them feel like that.
Rise of the g7x
Another big thing in 2024 was the rise of the g7x. This camera became viral in 2024 specifically because of the flash. This camera is expensive, it’s over 1000 dollars. I would totally buy a g7x for that price it’s hard to find a g7x I’m pretty sure you have to find them on eBay at this point. Because they keep selling out.
Peak design being cancelled for the CEO murder
This one was crazy, and I had no idea. All of this is alleged, I am not claiming facts on any of these. So, you guys know the healthcare CEO that was murdered by this guy named Luigi. So, Luigi in the surveillance videos is wearing a peak design backpack, peak design is a photography bags brand. Some of their backpacks are described as being lifestyle as well, but this was a big deal. The CEO of peak design said he woke up one day to a lot of messages saying If he saw that the shooter was wearing a peak design bag. The CEO said the particular model Mangione wore did not have a uniquely identifying serial number and that it stopped being sold in 2019.
So the issue is what spiraled afterwards. In an email to customers Friday night, Dering acknowledged inquiries over the company’s cooperation and customer privacy policies. * “Peak Design has not provided customer information to the police and would only do so under the order of a subpoena,” Dering wrote. Dering also pleaded with people to trust the company. * “There is misinformation being shared on social media that has triggered many serious threats for the safety of not only me, but our employees as well,” he wrote.
The makeup artist who overstayed their welcome
The “makeup artist who stayed too long controversy” refers to a recent viral situation on TikTok where a bridal makeup artist, often identified as “The Key Look,” was kicked out of a wedding after overstaying her welcome and excessively filming content for her social media platforms during the ceremony, essentially disrupting the event and interfering with the work of other paid professionals like photographers and videographers; this behavior was widely considered unprofessional and disrespectful to the bride and groom.
Allegedly the makeup artist was accused of spending a significant amount of time filming content for her social media. even during key moments of the wedding ceremony, which was seen as inappropriate. Even ignoring requests to leave: Despite apparent signs from the couple that they wanted her to leave, the makeup artist continued to film and stay present at the wedding. The excessive filming reportedly caused issues for the hired photographer and videographer, who were unable to capture certain shots due to the makeup artist’s presence.
