Reels and Tik Toks are really big right now, and you need to be making them! Even if you feel like you have nothing to offer, these videos are so valuable.
I’ve been experimenting with Tik Toks and Reels for about 8 months now, so here are some tips that have helped me market myself through video.
Get Over Yourself!!!
This is the first thing I wanted to say, because it’s honestly so true: GET OVER YOURSELF! If you think you’re too cool for Reels and Tik Toks, or not cool enough – you need to know that anyone can make these videos (including you).
Feel awkward talking in front of the camera? Start with videos where you don’t talk!
Feel like you don’t have enough content? Brainstorm every week!
Feel weird showing your face? Your face is a valuable. unique aspect of your brand. As you feel comfortable, show your face more & more on your accounts.
Tik Toks and Reels are major in reaching your audience, so how will you use them to market your business?
Teach What You Know!
You don’t have to be an expert to share tips! Just share what you know, even if it feels obvious. Tips and hacks are great content for these types of videos.
Video marketing is awesome for providing helpful information to your audience, so utilize this and share what you know.
Here’s a few ideas for educational content you can create:
- Lightroom Tips
- Shooting Tips
- Camera Settings Tips
- Business Hacks or Tips
- Editing Tips
- Wedding Day Tips
- Senior Photo Outfit Tips
- Wedding Timeline Tips
- Wedding Planning Tips
- What To Wear Tips
- Posing Tips
Basically anything that you feel will help your audience!! These videos can be directed towards potential clients OR photographers. You can even make videos for both audiences!
Be Relatable
My favorite Reels or Tik Toks are ALWAYS the ones I can relate to. So, create relatable content to make your audience feel more connected with you! Bonus points if you can use a trending sound & turn it into relatable content.
Try not to be too negative in your videos – you’ll want to be transparent with your audience but try your best to put a positive spin on things if you can!
Participate In Trends
Trends are a great way to get more exposure on your videos! Trending sounds are going to be pushed to more people, since that sound is popular at the moment. Utilize your niche and somehow incorporate that into current trends!
Your content shouldn’t be ONLY trends, but it’s good to stay up-to-date with the latest trends going around. Aim to do 1-2 trends per week.
Plan Out Your Content
Reels and Tik Toks take a lot of time, so I recommend you plan out your content before you make it.
Ask yourself: how many do I want to post per week? Then, strategize a few trending videos, a few educational videos, and any other videos you want to make.
I typically will sit down & come up with ideas a couple of hours before filming – so I can be efficient during my time filming!
It’s always fun to make videos spontaneously as you get ideas, but in order to maintain consistent posting, planning your content will guarantee you have a video every time you want to post.
